RITTER ACADEMY
A Bridge to Learning, Connection, and Belonging

A nonprofit private school being developed for children whose early experiences of adversity, disrupted caregiving, and attachment disruption affect how they experience the classroom.

Building the Bridge

Education built around connection

Ritter Academy is being developed as a nonprofit private school for children whose experiences with early adversity, disrupted attachment, and developmental trauma can make traditional classroom environments difficult to navigate.

By combining strong academics with predictable routines, relationship-centered practices, and an understanding of regulation, we aim to create an environment where students can build the foundation they need to learn, connect, and belong.

When Developmental trauma follows a child into the classroom.

For some children with histories of foster care, disrupted caregiving, or adoption, developmental trauma and attachment disruption can follow them into the classroom—affecting their ability to trust, build relationships, regulate, and access learning.

Ritter Academy is being built for these students.

A different kind of classroom.

Children affected by developmental trauma and attachment disruption may need more than accommodations added to a traditional classroom. They may need a classroom designed differently from the beginning.

At Ritter Academy, predictable routines, small learning environments, relationship-centered teaching, and an understanding of regulation will be woven into the school day—not added only after a child begins to struggle.

The goal is not to lower expectations. It is to create the conditions that allow students to meet them.
